Colorado Rapids 2-Houston Dynamo 2
On a night where Houston was looking for a fresh start, after removing Wilmer Cabrera from the head coach position, hopes were highs. However, the result did not vary much from the last ones. The Dynamo had to come from behind to earn a point against a very limited Colorado team that took advantage of the few opportunities they had.
The Orange was down in the score early in the match as Diego Rubio opened the score at the 7’. Moreover, Rubio doubled the lead for the visitors at the 38’ for the partial 0-2 at the half. The home team looked confused and without a fighting spirit in the first forty-five. However, Houston came with a different mentality and determination to come back and win the match.
Of course, Mauro Manotas saved the night for the Orange. He scored two goals at the 74’ and 79’ to give a point for Houston.
A key move by new interim Dynamo coach Davy Arnaud was including Houston’s new striker Christian Ramirez. His mobility and speed help Houston to open spaces for other key players such as Manotas and Alberth Elis. There will not be a surprise if new Dynamo coach will change the typical 4-3-3 formation for a 4-4-2. A little change former coach Cabrera never did.
Now Houston will prepare to finish the season strong and battle for a playoff spot that looks improbable, but possible, nonetheless. They will face FC Dallas next, in a match important for the points and also to recover the legendary canon ‘El Capitan’. This canon is awarded to the winner of the Texas derby season-long series.
On the other hand, Colorado will visit Salt Lake City to face their rival and to try to get earned some more points on the road.
