After another weather delay in Houston, Dynamo FC and FC Cincinnati split points in Texas.
Houston Dynamo FC came to this match with a mission of getting the three points since the club was not able to get the win since May 22 when they beat Vancouver 2-1. Moreover, in their last three matches they only summed three points, product of three draws.
Cincinnati on the other side wanted to keep the good momentum as the club came into this match after two away wins against Chicago and Toronto.
The match started with some fireworks as the home side went up early in the scoreboard after Canadian Tyler Pasher found the ball inside the box after a great cross by Sam Junqua for the 1-0 at the 3’.
However, only two minutes later, Cincy found the equalizer as Argentine Alvaro Barreal went to face goalkeeper Marko Maric on a 1-on-1 situation and got the partial 1-1.
After the 1-1. Houston was not able to keep the ball for much. The visitors pressured the home side making them to forced passes and losing the ball fast. In fact, the away side created some chances to score the 2-1. However, the Dynamo defense was on point to save the chances their rival had.
The Orange regained control of the actions as Derrick Jones and Joe Corona started recovering the ball faster and moving it. The rhythm of the match totally changed around the 25th minute and the home team looked closer to find the goal.
Just before the first half ended, Maric saved his side as Barreal was closed to score the leading goal. However, at the half the partial continue to be 1-1.
The second half started with the same dynamic as the first one. However, as time progressed, the match got chippy. This made the game to get slower as well as the possession for both teams were not long enough. Therefore, there were less chances to score.
At the end of the night, Cincy put the match where they wanted and snapped a point from Texas after the final 1-1.
Now Houston will have a three game road trip, whereas FC Cincinnati will host Columbus in their next match.
