The game against the United States, the Stars and Stripes, exposed the many problems El Tri is currently having with its mediocre mentality and attitudes its players are currently experiencing.
In the end, despite winning third place against Panama, the fan base of El Tri was disappointed in the Mexican National Team performance when they played against Team USA.
With all of this, the Mexican Federation of Soccer decided to put an end to Diego Cocca’s tenure as Mexican National Team coach.
However, when will the end of favoritism will end for El Tri? After all, the appointment of Cocca in the helm was because it came by Grupo Orlegi lead by Alejandro Irraragorri who put him in there and not the current President of the Mexican Federation led by Juan Carlos Rodriguez.
Cocca, in his time with the Mexican National Team, left with a record 3 wins, 3 draws, and one loss; but the main cause for his dismissal was the loss against Team USA in Nations League semifinal with a 3-0 loss.
Under the Argentine, El Tri showed a lot of vulnerability and never showed a convincing game under his tenure with a defensive exposure and its wings with a changed profile in its game lacking that performance this team always had.
Adding to a team plunged into an existential crisis and without any personality in its game as well lacking a game plan and looking in the end like headless chickens playing in the field, pity for a national team filled with a lot of promise.
Many state that what led to his dismissal was its representative being with the Directives of the Mexican Federation with Christian Bragarnik of Argentine origin with a close relationship with Mexican owner of Club Xolos.
My conclusion is leave politics to the politicians and let sport directives focus on getting this national team ready for its upcoming challenges. Learn from Team USA as well the US Soccer Federation that focuses only on its development of young talents.
The end of favoritism has to be put away and focus on many talented Mexican players not given the opportunity because of their personality or biases the Mexican Federation criterium and mentality they have.
Jimmy Lozano will take over El Tri after ten years of not seeing a manager of Mexican origin at the helm of El Tri. Despite other names being shuffled for now, Lozano will take over and his first test will be in the upcoming Gold Cup.
