Inter Miami head coach Diego Alonso says he is delighted with his players’ pre-season efforts.
The Herons polished off their pre-season schedule with a win over USL Championship outfit Tampa Bay Rowdies at Al-Lang Stadium, St. Petersburg on Saturday.
Inter found what would turn out to be the winner in the 23rd minute when Jay Chapman cut the ball back for MLS SuperDraft first pick Robbie Robinson.
Robinson received the ball in the box before cutting back inside and finding the net, ensuring Inter bounced back from defeat to Philadelphia Union in the same stadium last week.
Speaking after the win, head coach Alonso spoke of just how pleased he is of his men and their efforts throughout the entire pre-season.
“I’m very happy with what I saw from the group throughout the preseason,” he said.
“Today I think we also had a good game, we competed well, and I’m pleased with what the players have done,” said Head Coach Diego Alonso.
“My biggest takeaway is the work put in during the entire preseason. I think we all have done, especially the players, a great job and have to continue looking to improve.”
Inter Miami fans were out in force at Al-Lang Stadium, hitting the road to support their team around four hours’ drive from home both last week and on Saturday.

“It’s incredible that [our supporters]travelled so many kilometers to support us in a friendly, it’s wonderful.
“Imagine what our home opener is going to be like. We’re happy that the home opener will be sold out.
“It was also great to have shared today with so many supporters. We felt at home today, we played away but felt like the home team because of our fans.”
