D.C. United is off to Atlanta, GA, to play, for the first time, Atlanta United, the newbie in the MLS, what promises to be an interesting game.
Atlanta United, currently sitting in 4th in the Eastern Conference (11 points), is coming home after four matches away and trying for their second straight win the 3-1 win against Real Salt Lake city, but while the 2017 Season has been good to the new team, the same can not be said about the MLS original club from the capital, D.C. United.
The Black and Red team from D.C is still looking for a road win this season, and on top of it, they been plagued by injuries, first with Acosta during the pre-season and again in the beginning of the year, last week against New England Revolution, D.C United started without Luciano Acosta, Nick DeLeon, Taylor Kemp, Patrick Mullins or Patrick Nyarko, putting a lot of pressure on the new guys, Harke and Ortiz.
Last week ‘s game everything seem to go wrong, but that rag-tag group showed that they could get the job done. And they did, managing a 2-2 draw.
This week, the team from Washington, still have to work without DeLeon, Nyarko, and Birnbaum. Mullins is possible to come back for this game as well as Kemp. But Acosta is back and the Argentinian is always a key player for DC, him and Harkes as well as Ortiz may give some trouble to Atlanta’s defense
But it does not look good for the team from the capital.
Atlanta has shown that they can handle a lot and keep asking for more. The team from Georgia has scored 17 times so far, only Portland has scored more in MLS. They fought hard and took draws against the MLS Cup last year finalists: Toronto and Seattle and won their last game against Real Salt Lake City. Their offence has shown what they can do, but their defense is also a tough part of the game.
While Their Offence has shown what they can do, but their defense is also a tough part of the game, with Michael Parkhurst and Pirez controlling the center back and Jeff Larentowicz and Carmona in the midfield, they have allowed just eight goals in seven matches.
This will be a hard game for the D.C. United, but so said about the match against New England Revolution and they showed a different game there, let’s see what the Black and Red has to show us tomorrow.
You can watch the game tomorrow at 3pm ET at FS1, MLS Live, Fox Deportes or follow our comments on Twitter.
