A native of Barcelona, Spain, the 24-year old forward has logged just two goals this season, with 977 minutes played so far, appearing in 16 games (13 starts).
In his career with the Black & Gold, Berry has recorded 10 goals and two assists, in 1,817 minutes played, as Bogert mentioned before.
Berry, who started the match against the Vancouver Whitecaps at the beginning of the season, showed his promise at the end of last season with head coach Caleb Porter saying “I owed him the start because of the end of last year.”
“We are grateful for Miguel’s contributions to the Club during his time in Columbus,” said General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko. “For three seasons, Miguel has been a great teammate and a consummate professional. We are proud of his development since he was drafted in 2020. With our current striker corps, ultimately, we felt this trade would prove beneficial for both the Club and for Miguel. We wish him all the best as he takes this next step of his career in D.C.”
Berry was selected in the first round of the 2020 MLS SuperDraft by Columbus.
Winner of the 2020 MLS Cup additionally spent time on loan with the San Diego Loyal in USL Champioship where he recorded six goals in 14 matches during the 2020 and 2021 seasons.
