Corinthian Casuals’ Max Oldham tops Cascadia assist table; Elgin’s Ferguson is topscorer
by Steve Clare
The numbers are now in from Cascadia’s ConIFA Football World Cup campaign. The side’s overall record (allocating three points for a win and one for a draw for elimination matches too) was:
P | W | D | L | GF | GA | Pts |
6 | 3 | 1 | 2 | 17 | 11 | 10 |
The average of 1.66 points per game would see them a theoretical fourth in the MLS Western Conference behind just SKC, Dallas and Portland.
They played a slightly above average cross section of the competition, coming up against eventual winners Karpatlaya, two other sides that also topped their group Western Armenia and Barawa, Panjab, and an Ellan Vannin side that averaged two points per game. Only Tamil Eelam among their opponents were one of the below average sides.
The concession of eleven goals though in six games was a concern and they lost the opening goal in four of their six games which will certainly be an issue coach James Nichols will be examining.
On the individual front, Calum Ferguson topped the scoring charts with five of the side’s 17 goals, including five of the last nine. Yuri Farkas scored three and there were two each for Josh Doughty, who scored Cascadia’s first ever goal, Jon Nouble and Hector Morales.
Tayshan Hayden-Smith, Kitsap’s Hamza Haddadi and Max Oldham were the other scorers.
Oldham however topped the assist table equal with Haddadi on three. Four players created two; left back Charlie Gregory, Jon Nouble, Morales, and Farkas. Ferguson and Jordan Wilson made one each.
