COLUMBUS, OH – The Columbus Crew are going through a change in time. After parting ways with head coach Caleb Porter, the club is looking for a new coach. In that sense, comes players who are leaving the club. That is the case with midfielder Artur, who was traded to the Houston Dynamo on Tuesday in exchange for $350k in allocation money.
President and General Manager Tim Bezbatchenko said “I would like to thank Artur for his contributions to the Crew and the Columbus community over the past six seasons and he will always be a part of our Club’s history and our recent accomplishments, which include raising two trophies. We believe this move will give us valuable flexibility as we build our roster for the 2023 season and beyond.”
Initially on loan from Brazilian side São Paulo FC, Artur’s loan became a permanent transfer after the 2017 season, a time in which was very hardening for the Columbus Crew community and Major League Soccer itself.
During his time in Black & Gold colors, Artur appeared in 138 games (124 starts) recording two goals and nine assists in his six-year tenure with Columbus. Artur played a pivotal role in the 2020 MLS Eastern Conference Final where he scored the lone goal for the Crew, lifting them to a 1-0 win over the New England Revolution. Columbus would soon go on to capture their second MLS Cup with a 3-0 win over the Seattle Sounders.
