Going back to my three hopes and one fear before the 2016 season, the fear with the Chicago Fire was that it was going to be a long season. Fear confirmed. Once again, the Fire finished bottom of the league and seemed slow, if not incapable, of learning how to win despite a new coach in Veljko Paunovic and a new general manager in Nelson Rodriguez. It was not all dark for the Fire, there was some promise from Jonathan Campbell and Brandon Vincent in the back and Michael de Leeuw proved to be a positive up front. I did a year-in-review back on November 3rd on the Fire which I went through what the Fire need in 2017. Hopefully, there’s no where to go but up for the Fire.
