After a trip to New York and a loss to NYCFC, Charlotte FC returns home to take on the Portland Timbers for the first time in the club’s history.
Charlotte is looking to bounce back after back-to-back losses, while Portland is looking for their firsts win since March 9 against NYCFC.
Both clubs are 11th in their respective conferences, Charlotte has 11 points with three wins, two draws and five losses while Portland has 10 points two wins, four draws and four losses.
While both teams are 11th in their conference, they have gotten there in very different ways. Charlotte has struggled to score goals for most of the season with just 10 goals in 10 matches while allowing 13 goals. On the other hand, Portland has scored 20 goals in 10 matches but has allowed 21 goals.
Charlotte’s goal scoring struggles have been evident this season, this could be the match for Charlotte to figure things out, going up against a Portland team that has allowed 10 goals in their past four matches. Defensively, Charlotte has their work cut out for them. Along with allowing 10 goals in their previous four matches, Portland has matched that total, scoring 10 goals of their own across those four matches. Charlotte started the season off performing well defensively but have since allowed eight goals in their previous four matches.
The match is set to kickoff at 7:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, May 4 in Bank of America Stadium and is available to watch for free on Apple TV.
