Charlotte FC continued their streak of impressive performances with a 1-0 win on the road against Chicago Fire FC.

Charlotte FC faced more than double the shots than they faced in their most recent match, with Chicago taking 14 shots, five of which were on goal. Six of those shots from Chicago were blocked by the Charlotte defense on their way to a third clean sheet in a row. A huge part of keeping the clean sheet was the play of Kristijan Kahlina, who made five saves, including a diving save in the final minutes of the match to keep Charlotte on top.

Charlotte only held 44.1 percent of the possession in the match with just nine shots and two on goal as well as having fewer corners and crosses than Chicago. Despite this, Charlotte found a way to score with Ashley Westwood putting Charlotte up 1-0 in the 60th minute on a free kick.

For his efforts in the win, Westwood was named Man of the Match and was also named to the MLS team of the Matchday. Westwood was joined by Adilson Malanda who was listed as a substitute on the MLS team of the Matchday.

Charlotte now sits at fifth in the MLS Eastern Conference with 20 points through 13 matches played so far this season.

Charlotte will return to Charlotte for their next match against the LA Galaxy on Saturday, May 18. Kickoff against the LA Galaxy is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. EST with streaming available on the MLS Season Pass on Apple TV.
