Inter Miami’s wait for its first home game in MLS goes on as coronavirus continues to halt the 2020 season.
But while the tease of only season two games from the Herons after a long wait for their first season is an almost excrutiating, it hasn’t been all bad.
Thanks to the delay, Inter have welcomed back a key player from injury and a roster put together rather quickly ahead of this season has now had time to gel with regular zoom meetings and the return to the grass in recent weeks.
Below we round-up the key Inter Miami news from the coronavirus delay.
Carranza returns
When Inter’s first MLS games finally rolled around, fans couldn’t help but notice the absence of striker Julian Carranza after the Argentine was ruled out for 10-12 weeks with a foot injury.
After being sidelined for nearly 10 weeks, it’s good to have @carranzajuli21 back on the field. ?

Rookie Robbie Robinson struggled in his opening game – which is understandable – and while he vastly improved in his second, Inter still looked short on quality up top.
Thanks to the delay, Carranza has now returned to full fitness barring some much-needed match minutes, and he will be ready when the season finally does return.
Figal injury
On a less positive note, centre-back Nicolas Figal, who looked sharp in his opening two games, is currently struggling with a knee injury.
Figal wasn’t able to take part in the individual workouts when training resumed in South Florida.
But the injury is not serious, or at least that’s what head coach Diego Alonso has suggested.
He said: “Nicolas is a player that surely will be back with us soon.”
Robinson follows Michael Jordan’s lead
Inter rookie Robbie Robinson was crowned 2020 Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) Male Athlete of the Year on Wednesday from his efforts with Clemson University in the 2019 season.
Robinson joins former NBA superstar Jordan and NFL quarter-back Lamar Jackson in winning the award.
Best of them all ✨
Congrats to @RobbieRobinson7 on being named the 2020 ACC Male Athlete of the Year!

The young striker will be hoping to achieve similar success with Inter when he returns having already started each of the first two games.
Fitz knows the score
Finally, we couldn’t leave you without applauding Dolphins quarter-back Ryan Fitzpatrick, or Fitzmagic as he is affectionately known.
That (glorious) beard and the RosaNegra are looking good, Ryan Fitzpatrick. Your guy’s got taste, @MiamiDolphins! ? pic.twitter.com/P4x3SQLWI8

‘Fitz’ held a virtual press conference on Thursday in which he sported La Rosa Negra colours, wearing the Inter Miami away jersey.
Inter fever is spreading through the city of Miami…and even to Arizona where Fitzpatrick lives.
