VANCOUVER, BC–The most noteworthy item from this match between the Vancouver Whitecaps and Colorado Rapids was that it was the first in Major League Soccer history to be officiated by three females with Tori Penso as the head referee, Brooke Mayo as an assistant referee and Felisha Mariscal as the fourth official.

The Whitecaps and Rapids played to a goalless draw, though not for a lack of chances for each team. The Whitecaps came closest in the 67th minute when Luis Martins shot from 25 yards out was parried over the bar by William Yarbrough. Colorado got a penalty in the 78th minute after Javain Brown took down Jonathan Lewis in the area. However, Diego Rubio’s spot kicks was saved by Yohei Takaoka.

The Whitecaps cling to the ninth and final playoff spot in the West with the draw while the Rapids remain two points behind in 12th. The Whitecaps remain home next Saturday when they take on Minnesota United at 7:30pm Pacific Time on Apple TV and on the radio on CKGO-AM 730.
