Vancouver Whitecaps 2-Montreal Impact 0
After two long years the Vancovuer Whitecaps are back in Canada’s top final. The ‘Caps dispatched the Montreal Impact 2-0 on Wednesday night to move on to the final in the Canadian Championship final 2-1 on aggregate.
After finding themselves in a 1-0 hole after the first leg Carl Robinson’s side needed an early spark to give the 19,267 in attendance in BC Place something to believe in. They also had to do it without Alphonso Davies, who signed a $13 million transfer to Bayern Munich earlier in the day. But even without Davies they hit the Impct defense early with forward Yordy Reyna scoring a goal in the 19th minute. They made it two in the second half after Marcel De Jong earned a foul for his side inside of the Impact eighteen. Kei Kamara coolly slotted his chance past goalkeeper Evan Bush to put things away for the home side.
With the win the Whitecaps advanced to the finals where they will face Toronto FC in a two-legged series. The games will be played on August 8th and 15th although the exact times and order of stadiums have yet to be determined.
