Borussia Dortmund has been off to a flyer and no mistake. In this 6-1 win over Borussia Monchegladbach they sallied forth with ruthlessness to score at will. Six matches played and they are top of the table. What is more only one goal conceded and 19 scored. Not a bad start to the Peter Bosz reign.
Bayern has had a history of playing well around Oktoberfest. This season not so much. Despite the fact that they let 2-0 at the half they conceded twice to Wolfsburg ensuring that they would share points at the Allianz Arena. The efficiency of the Pep Guardiola and Jupp Heynckes era is not here at the moment.
In the battle of the young managers Hoffenheim under Julian Naglesmann defeated Schalke 04 under Domenico Tedesco 2-0. Each has been heralded as the new thing. Tedesco has been cleaning up the usual mess that is Schalke, and should he succeed then watch out Europe. Red Bull Leipzig was able to out last Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 in Saxony. With a trip to Istanbul coming momentum was definitely needed to ensure a good start to the European campaign.
Bayer Leverkusen looked full of confidence at the Bay Arena in their 3-0 victory over HSV. This Jekyll and Hyde act continues to hinder this club from climbing up the Bundesliga table.
Mainz just made Hertha Berlin’s next European match more difficult with a 1-0 victory in the Carnival city. Mainz will take this and should home form prevail relegation will not happen.
Hannover continued their excellent start to the season but only got share of the spoils. While not what Koln fans wanted their club recorded their first point of the season in a 0-0 draw.
SC Freiburg and Werder Bremen both needed three points but 90 minutes of scoreless fussball saw sharing of the points as each occupies a relegation spot after six played.
In a surprise turn Stuttgart held surprise package FC Augsburg to a 0-0 draw.
