Argentine sports writer Hernan Cabrera was the man with the information when Columbus signed Newell’s Old Boys left back Milton Valenzuela.
A month and a half ago he said Columbus were attempting for another NOB youngster in winger Joaquin Torres.

At that time Columbus made a loan offer that was rejected.
Recently Berhalter returned to the table once more to attempt to make a deal before the May 1st Major League Soccer transfer deadline expired.
Likely Berhalter wasn’t 100 percent yet on either Cristian Martinez’s or Niko Hansen’s performances. In addition, Mike Grella who had a great start to his Columbus Crew career on the wing is yet still returning from a lengthy injury.
So, Cabrera reported on April 29th that the Columbus Crew has came in with another offer.

But on the next day he reported that Columbus’s likely improved loan offer was once again rejected by Newell’s.
