Saturday night’s game easily could have gone differently. The near perfect shot from Reto Ziegler off of a free kick outside of the Union’s box at the tenth minute foreshadowed a familiar Union story line. The Union have a reputation of difficulty pulling off games when down a goal.
But at about the 85th minute, Cory Burke was pulled down by Matt Hedges right into the goal, in a move more reminiscent of American football.

This set up a Union penalty shot taken by Marco Fabian, which was saved by Dallas goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer.

The save, however, resulted in a rebound and Cory Burke had set himself on the right side amidst a number of Dallas defenders. Burke adeptly jumped on the rebound at the 85th minute.
Burke’s rebound shot was well out of Maurer’s reach.
Burke’s goal left the score at one for each side. The Union’s Captain Alejandro Bedoya and Ilsinho teamed up to dominate the right side of the field once Ilsinho entered the game at the 68th minute, to the delight of the fans.
Then, two minutes into stoppage time, Bedoya scored on an Ilsinho assist. The 2-1 win certainly was satisfying to the Captain and Ilsinho.
