The Portland Timbers endure another loss at home

The Portland Timbers had the opportunity to return to the winning column today, with a game scheduled in midweek against the New York Red Bulls, sporting a three-game losing streak.

As these Red Bulls were ready to put their oddities behind, in just three minutes these showed their determination to put this one away with an opening goal from Kyle Duncan, that became the difference maker.

The visitors taking advantage of their momentum these tried to add another goal in the scoreboard but Timbers defender Bill Tuiloma to shake off the scare and drive the Red Bulls started going agasint the posts defended by Steve Clark.

However, it came a counter and spectacular play the Portland Timbers top players put on and with a nicely executed pass by EL Maestro Diego Valeri barely beating his mark, he put the ball on Diego Chara feet to see his shot hit the crossbar.

From the start of the second half, if someone had his opportunities to tie this match up was Jeremy Ebobisse, with a header in the 65′ minute being an easy stop for Red Bulls keeper Luis Robles.

As another opportunity in what many saw it as immense to tie this match up was in the 82′ minute as a pass from Sebastian Blanco to a wide open Ebobisse could been a a goal, the man shot went wide and the chance went fruitless.

Still, something that is seen by these Portland Timbers in their two games is the lack of passion, drive and most of all energy.

In the 90+6 minute came the unthinkable and a play that Jorge Moreira took down inside the area Marc Rzatkowski and for the game official awarded a penalty for the Red Bulls and Daniel Royer converted for the final score.

With another test this Sunday against Minnesota United, the Portland Timbers need a win over the Loons that already defeated Portland back this season in Minnesota in a regular season game and in the USOC.
