T2 today announced the addition of two assistant coaches and two additional staff for the 2015 USL season. Joining experienced and accomplished head coach Jay Vidovich on the T2 coaching staff are assistant coach Andrew Gregor and goalkeeper coach Steve Reese. Charles Burdick will serve as the strength and conditioning coach and Taichi Kitagawa as the team’s athletic trainer.
The Timbers Academy U-16 head coach, Gregor will also serve as an assistant coach with T2. Under Gregor, the Timbers U-16s are currently second in the Northwest Division with a record of 9-4-4. As part of a 12-year professional playing career that included time in Major League Soccer, Gregor spent part of three seasons with the second-division Timbers (2004, 2007-08). He appeared in 50 league games for the Timbers, registering 10 goals and eight assists and was named one of the USL First Division’s top 25 players of the decade for the 2000s, having appeared in more than 200 USL-1 games during this playing career.
Reese was a member of the second-division Timbers from 2007-08 during his professional career and has gained coaching experience with Thorns FC as the team’s goalkeeper coach in 2014 and with the Timbers Academy. A native Oregonian, Reese has served as a goalkeeper coach for the Timbers Academy U-16 and U-18 teams since 2012 and for the Timbers U-23s side since 2013.
Continuing the club’s ongoing partnership with EXOS, Burdick will serve as the team’s strength and conditioning coach. Burdick served as a performance specialist intern at EXOS after interning for two years at Oregon State where he worked with the football, baseball and women’s golf programs.
Kitagawa will serve as the athletic trainer for the team and brings experience having worked with various professional and college teams, including the San Francisco 49ers, San Francisco Giants and the San Jose Earthquakes of MLS after earning his master’s degree at Oregon State.
