The Eagles hosted the Tennesse Volunteers for their first match against each other, on Sunday at the Reeves Field in Washington, this Sunday. American University’s second home game – after four games on the road – was not successful, having only one shot on goal during the 90 minutes of regular time.

The team from Knoxville came to D.C. after a 5-2 loss against BYU Cougars in Utah, on Friday and seemed to have organized its defense since then.

American Eagles x Tennessee Volunteers Two minutes into the game the Tennessee had its first two opportunities with a corner kick by defender #1 Meghan Flynn and another by midfielder #4 Rylie O’Keefe.

Was the same #4, Rylie O’Keefe who would open the score in the eleventh minute and assist the second goal of the game less than three minutes later.

The D.C. team tried to keep the defensive line active and move the ball to the visitors side of the field, without luck managing only one shot on goal at the fifty-third minute with Forward/Midfielder #25 Yari Bradfield.

Tennessee kept the ball mostly on its attack field and work seven shots on goal just on the first half and another seven on the second half with a goal by #32 Maya Neal on the fifty-seventh minute with the New Zealander Hannah Wilkinson, who just came back from the Rio Olympics, assisting.

American Eagle’s defender Megan O’Keefe was out of the game after sustaining an upper-body injury and will be evaluated this week not being confirmed to American Universty’s next game on Thursday against Longwood.
