19′ Pa-Modou Kah’s excellent through ball found Octavio Rivero in on goal and he smartly finished between the legs of Joe Bendik.
32′ Jozy Altidore rounds Whitecaps goalkeeper David Ousted slotting in the equalizer. Having been a peripheral figure throughout the opening stages the American was rewarded for his endeavor as Sebastian Giovinco found him with a clever through ball.
40′ Through on goal Manneh’s touch let him down as he cut in on his right and shot straight at Bendik.
59′ Debutant Bruno Cheyrou sent Justin Morrow down the left before crossing to Robbie Findley for the easiest of tap-ins. A crucial goal that put Toronto FC 2-1 up away from home.
64′ Despite arguably being the Whitecaps best performer and his side chasing a goal, Russell Teibert was substituted for the more defensive Gershon Koffie.
90′ A coming together between Kah and Altidore late on resulted in TFC being awarded a penalty. Altidore finished the spot kick down the middle sending Ousted the wrong way.
Michael Bradley bossed the midfield in the second half effectively limiting Morales’ impact on the match.
Greg Vanney left BC Place a happy man as his new look Toronto FC side got the better of the Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1.
Whitecaps head coach Carl Robinson is feeling hot under the collar after a lifeless second half performance that ended their unbeaten streak in home openers that stretched back to 2002.
Toronto FC’s travelling support will be delighted to go home with all three points having watched their new boys handle the early Vancouver pressure.
