Houston Dynamo 1-FC Dallas 1

The Houston Dynamo came from behind and tied against FC Dallas 1-1 on Saturday night in a new edition of the Texas Derby. Mauro Manotas scored for the Orange seven minutes after Matt Hedges scored for the north Texas team.

It was a very well fought match where both teams were looking for the win. However, the game plan for both sides changed drastically in the first minute of the game as FC Dallas went up in the scoreboard after Hedges header beat Joe Willis for the early 1-0. Even though Dallas was pressuring and attacking a shocking Dynamo team, Manotas found the ball inside the box for the equalizer at the 8th minute.

After the 1-1 both teams tried to attack using their best skills. Houston midfielder Tomas Martinez was the key player for the home team. He tried to found Albert Elis and Romell Quioto in the last third, but the visitors defense was on point all night long.

Also, FC Dallas created many chances to score. Michael Barrios and Harold Mosquera showed their speed and talent in the offensive side for the visitor team. In addition, Maxi Urruti, who had some chances to score, was not able to do so due to the great match Houston’s goalkeeper Willis had. Moreover, Dynamo defenders Alejandro Fuenmayor and Jared Watts had a good game controlling the fierce attack from their rivals.

A key moment in the match came in during the second half when referee Hilario Grajeda had to make two controversial calls. First, he called a penalty kick against the Orange after Adolfo Machado committed an apparent foul on Barrios. Dallas forward Roland Lamah stepped to the spot, but his shot was blocked by Willis at the 61st minute.

Secondly, one minute later, the Dynamo scored via Manotas. The referees of the match gave the goal to the home team but the play went to the Video Assisted Review. After two to three minutes of deliberation he referee reviewed the play and eventually he reversed the call, denying the goal to Houston due to an offside from the Dynamo forward.

After all that, the home team tried to get the win, but any of teams was precise enough to get a second goal. Now Houston will host the Philadelphia Union on Wednesday 25th whereas will visit Sporting KC on July 28th.
