Toronto, ON – Special Game for Toronto FC at the BMO field, the Vanney Boys got their first victory, 3 points and the 100th win for the coach originally from Virginia, Greg Vanney.
The Canadian team went to the field with Jozy Altidore as a new Captain in the absence of the new Canadian, Michael Bradley.
At the beginning of the encounter, the Reds were looking to score immediately, creating a few opportunities on New York City FC.
The first annotation came at minute 10′, when Ifunanyachi Achara scores but the referee with the help of the VAR, ultimately called it offside and canceled the goal.
For the part of NYCFC, the actions were also quite some back and forward but the Coach, Rony Delia, wasn’t very confortable with the deployment of his group inside the field.
Also, the goalkeeper, Sean Johnson, was a very important factor who kept stopping the coutinuous attacks from Pozuelo and Altidore, sometimes well accompanied by Marky Delgado.
In the second half, Toronto wins the ball possession and with succes they create some frustration on the American team.
A few minutes before the end of the match, divine justice appears on the BMO Field at 81′. Achara scores his first home goal and first MLS career goal, giving a win for his teammates and the aficionados present on a cold night in the Ontario Province.
