A Resurgent Colorado Rapids to become Another Tough Challenge for the Portland Timbers in Midweek

Portland Timbers Briefly

Hard work is paying off for the Portland Timbers as its manager Giovanni Savarese is pleased with the results lately and the way his team is delivering positive results. Somehow, the Timbers’ numerous improvements in his starting elevens lately are defining the way his side turnaround.

With yesterday’s match in the books, the Rose City team is back to business and preparing for another tough outing against a resurgent Colorado Rapids side. Despite playing at home, the Timbers are aware of the might the Rocky Mountain boys can do after their recent feat against the defending champion Seattle Sounders.

Still, this team is seen determined to close on a positive note, and this match despite its levels of difficulty, these teams can overcome the odds and display their potency when they play as a well-oiled machine.

As defense wins games, so does the offensive attack and this team despite now missing another important part of its attack on Jaroslaw Niezgoda, it’s likely that Jeremy Ebobisse will be ready to suit up for Wednesday’s match.

When I speak about defense, I really get excited to see how this team’s levels of competition are stepping up among its players such as Marco Farfan and Pablo Bonilla.

Very well with Jorge Villafaña stepping up his defensive game alongside his offensive display with back-to-back assists for goals that have made the difference for his team along with Larrys Mabiala doing the job. There is also confidence that newcomer center back Dario Zuparic is starting to get the rhythm in displaying his best game.

However, with Niezgoda and Blanco out for the season, it’s time for some players to move ahead and deliver as the Timbers head into on the postseason. What they need to provide is essential and imperative for a team seen with a lot of potentials.

For Felipe Mora, seeing his efforts paying off alongside Yimmi Chara being the orchestrator the Timbers needed, alongside Jeremy Ebobisse ready for his comeback, these Timbers will be unstoppable.

Two games left and the need too close with a plus, the Timbers will be looking at any cost to do it in style and with a couple of positive results. In the end, the Colorado match will be one handful for the Timbers and a win for sure will uplift this team confidence and momentum.

Probable Lineup:

GK Steve Clark, Marco Farfan, Larry’s Mabiala, Dario Zuparic, Jorge Villafaña; Jeremy Ebobisse, Diego Chara, Eryk Williamson, Yimmy Chara; Diego Valeri, Felipe Mora

Colorado Rapids Briefly

Hail to Robin Fraser’s positive turnaround with the Colorado Rapids, as the Rocky Mountain Boys are coming to Providence Park putting in play their pass into the postseason.

Somehow for manager Fraser as we can say holding up the fort with a number of setbacks at the start of the 2020 MLS season, with COVID-19 cases in his team, injuries, and canceled games, but the man is one amazing fighter.

With a notable win recently over the Seattle Sounders at CenturyLink Park, shows this team’s improvement ever since the arrival of the former Toronto Assistant that won it in years in TO.

However, the path for the playoffs is paved with several obstacles, and among one of them will be playing in Providence Park against a streaking Portland Timbers side displaying a wondrous game.

For Wednesday’s game, I for sure will see a match with the elements of a final, as the Timbers despite already clinching their pass into the postseason will like to hang on to the top of the West.

Contrary to Colorado with their pass into postseason hanging on a thread and being game today, getting a result like that one in Seattle. Somehow will be a total challenge for Fraser and his Rapids, because another win on the road will be one shoot of optimism in their arm.

Probable Lineup

GK William Yarborough, Keegan Rosenberry, Lalas Abubakar, Auston Trustry, Sam Vines; Cole Bassett, Jack Price, Younes Manli; Andre Shinyashiki, Diego Rubio, Nicolas Benezet

Meetings

July 13, 2019, Portland Timbers 2-2 Colorado Rapids

March 2, 2019, Colorado Rapids 3-3 Portland Timbers

Forecast

Both side with impetus after their wins on the weekend, still I do not see any favorites for this match
