On Friday, Major League Soccer held their annual College SuperDraft at the McCormick Convention Center in Chicago, Illinois.The draft was part of the four day NSCAA Coaches Convention which is one of the largest annual soccer conferences in the world.
Over 48 players were selected over the course of two rounds including the first overall pick by FC Cincinnati. MLS’ newest side took UCLA midfielder Frankie Amaya with the first overall pick. The Orange and Blue weren’t done, acquiring Logan Gdula (Defender/Wake Forest) with the 14th overall pick.
The other big story of the draft was the University of Maryland. The 2018 NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Champions saw four of their players drafted in the first two rounds of the draft: Goalkeeper Dayne St. Clair (first round- Minnesota United FC), defenders Chase Gasper (first round-Minnesota United FC) and Andrew Samuels (second round-Houston Dynamo) and midfielder Amar Sedjic (second round-Montreal Impact).
