Ottawa, ON (Sat, June 2, 2018) – After a match that seemed to most likely end up as a nil game on both sides, instead the final score was to the advantage of the visiting team, Charlotte Independence, with a one score lead and taking away the three points.
Both teams seemed to be in good form in the first half of the match. There was a lot of good ball exchange on both sides, but there just didn’t seem to be enough good completions to get the score on either side. So relatively quiet in soccer terms, nothing really eventful to report as both clubs went into the half-time break at the 45 minute point.
In the second half, the local team seemed to be more on the attack and trying to complete strategic plays against the Charlotte arc guarded by Andrew Dykstra. Some good opportunities played by none other the Fury captain, Carl Haworth, but once again, could not be completed by his teammates.
After the good effort, unfortunately at minute 83′, the French-Ivorian forward, Yann Ekra, seized on a little disorganization in the defensive line of Ottawa, and was able to score for his team. That ended up being the salvation of the visiting team, who took the victory at the end of the 90 minute encounter.
A little set back for the local Ontario team who have had a good run in the last few matches. The record number of about 5,700 fans for this season in TD Place can still be very proud of the performance of their team.
