Group D awaits a UEFA investigation over Croat fans’ behavior but Spain will top it no matter

Spain 3 : 0 Turkey

Spain beat Turkey 3-0 in Nice and became the first side to score three goals in EURO2016 in its 23rd game and coincidentally the first side to do so since Spain, in the final four years ago.

In a 14 minute spell around half time they burst Turkey’s ambitions and made their possession superiority and immaculate passing count for goals. Spain have now kept 10 consecutive clean sheets in competitive games. In fact, they have conceded just one goal in their last 18 hours & 18 minutes of football at the European Championship finals.

Spain’s passing and movement were exceptional and Turkey had no answer especially after Spain took the lead.

Alvaro Morata headed in the first goal in the 34th from a beautifully curled Nolito cross and Spain never looked back. A Cesc Fabregas ball was poorly headed by off balance Turkish  defender Mehmet Topal  thereafter Nolito picked it up and finished firmly.

Three minutes into the second half Morata added his second and Spain’s third, making Spain the first side to score three in EIRO2016 with Andres Iniesta and a possibly offside Jordi Alba involved in the move which involved 23 straight passes in just 48 seconds. Gerard Pique was the only outfielder not involved in the move

Morata headed a foot wide seconds later looking for his hat trick. Busquets had a 69th minute drive saved before the game petered out under Spanish control. Turkish captain Arda Turan was on the wrong end of some ill-natured booing from his own fans.

Turkey can still qualify with a win over the Czechs and they may harbor some hopes too that Croatia are ejected from the tournament after events in St Etienne, although they’d still need to win that final game.

Spain are home hosed and probably now favorites for the entire tournament.
