In last week’s Hinton Unleashed, Prost Amerika video columnist Alan Hinton urged Seattle Sounders FC fans to support Portland in their bid to win the MLS Cup.
This week Hinton decided to respond to his critics and explain his rationale for a Timbers’ victory, and why it would benefit Seattle and the league.
He went on to analyze the Timbers’ MLS Cup victory over the Columbus Crew, review the latest news out of the English Premier League and the U.S. Women’s National Team’s decision to cancel their recent match in Hawaii.
Seattle Sounders fans critical of Hinton’s comments
“I call it the way I see it.”
Hinton provoked many Sounders FC fans by asking them to support Portland to win the 2015 MLS Cup. The response was swift and mostly negative on soundersfc.com, his Twitter account (@alanhinton11) and Reddit.
The long-time pundit felt the Timbers’ victory increased interest in the Cascadia rivalry, Major League Soccer and soccer overall. Hinton rationalized his thoughts by predicting more vitriol and higher attendance whenever the two sides clash.
